It Isn't Hard to Increase Your Traffic

By Glenn Lucas

One thing that just about all web businesses worry about is driving targeted traffic to their blogs and websites, etc. On the other hand, you do not want to just get traffic because you do not want any old kind of traffic. One of your high priority business tasks is to make sure you are working on marketing and traffic generation every day. Actually, one of the easiest things for you to do is send traffic to your site, but many IM people make it complicated. You should not be having a tough time with traffic, but if so then here are three tips that are sure to be useful.

Do a little bit of guerilla marketing. Guerilla marketing is a marketing technique that goes beyond regular marketing methods like press releases and gets more creative. One common guerilla marketing technique is to leave pens that have your website address printed on them at places like the grocery store or the bank. Walk around wearing a t-shirt sporting your site's URL. Put some fliers up in your town. Put stickers on telephone poles (if your town allows you to do such things). Guerilla marketing involves a lot of different methods that you can use to raise the amount of traffic flowing in to your site. The very best thing about this method of generating traffic is that it can be quite a lot of fun! The only real limit here is how much nerve you have and how creative you are.

If you have been doing business for a while, offer a referral bonus to the people who are on your list. Set up referral links so that the people on your list can email them to their friends and family. Offer a prize (it can be whatever you want) for the person whose referral link brings in the most unique visitors. This is easy enough to track through your Analytics program. They will have the incentive to share your info with other people. This will expose your site to the public and gain more sales for you. In the end, you will get more prosperous and get additional customers. This is a positive outcome for everyone involved.

Depending on your niche, you may be able to market your site off the net, but this is not possible for everybody. One very good thing to do is join marketing forums because people post tips all the time. The great thing about the internet is there are so many people you can meet in different places that it's incredible. Give them your business card (which will, of course, contain your URL) and encourage them to visit your site. If you have a mailing list, then they will join it if they think it is good value.

There are so many different things that you can do to get more people to visit your website. Really, the only limit to the number of things you can do to raise your traffic levels is the limit of your own creativity. Obviously some ideas are going to be more successful than others, but as long as you keep making a regular effort, you will get the traffic you've been hoping to get. So stop sitting around and start working!
