If you're the kind of person that enjoys the outdoors, you probably carry a knife of some sort. As a camper or hiker, bringing a knife along is the most important thing. They have many uses from cutting rope or insert after protection making kindling to start a fire. It is also for this reason that come various types of knives which depends on their use. There are those that come in larger size for heavy duty. Other knives are specifically designed to produce a thin to thick cuts just like the fillet knife and the butcher knife.

Large knives are generally designed to cut bigger objects such as wood or lumber. If you're into knives with various uses then you can take hold of a survival knife which is usually utilized for camping, hiking and hunting.

To keep things in order, there are also laws that should be followed when it comes to bringing large knives. That's going to depend on what state you're from and even what country you're from if it's not the United States. Laws concerning carrying of large knives are focused mainly on the reason why you are carrying the knife around and ignores the reason that the knife will be used for camping as well as hiking. The thing that they are trying to avoid is when knives are actually used to hurt someone.

Again, laws regarding the carrying of large knives will depend on your specific state or country. As an example, you can carry a pocket knife only, in the state of Arizona. Furthermore, this law has been confirmed by the judicial system as constitutional in Dano v Collins.

Whilst in Colorado, citizens are allowed to carry anything they want. Nevertheless, carrying knives that are at least 3.5 inches for the purpose of hurting someone is definitely prohibited.

In Georgia, anyone carrying concealed weapons will automatically be charged by going against the law. In addition, you cannot carry any of those types of knives to a public gathering. As you can see this law is just vague enough that you had to be very careful when carrying a knife. This is for the fact that knives can pretty much be used in anything specially as a weapon.

In Kentucky, Stout the Commonwealth determined that a 3 inch locking folder is a deadly weapon. If you're an outdoorsman you know that this type of knife is one you like to carry because it folds up and is very handy. These knives can be unfolded and locked for safety.

Moreover, knives can also be totally banned in one state like the state of New Jersey. The law doesn't exactly specify which knives you can carry in public that is why it is difficult to know whether what you have can be something that can be carried in public.

Obviously, having to know where you are should be the first thing to keep in mind if you want to carry a knife around. Some knives you might consider to be okay, especially for camping or other activities may be illegal.
