By Jeffie Ahlm

Many people are often afraid of using a tablet because they feel unprepared. The Apple iPad is an incredibly simple device for any user, but it can still seem intimidating. If you are considering purchasing one, or if you recently did so, then check out these great tips about the device.

The iPad is a great tool for reading. Whether it's fantasy literature or a college textbook, reading at night can become a bit straining on the eyes. Dimming your iBooks is easily accomplished by changing the brightness setting within the app. This makes nighttime reading far more enjoyable and comfortable.

You don't have to sync to iTunes to get documents from your iPad to your computer! Just use Share to email the documents from the tablet to your email account anywhere, be it on your computer at home, work or school. You can email it in PDF or Word document format.

The old saying "You've got mail" has been upgraded to a fresh chime that reminds users of an incoming message. However, this can become bothersome during some events and the new iPad has included an option for disabling these alerts when desired. All sounds, audio, and tones can now be easily manipulated without third-party software.

Invest money into Bluetooth's audio if you are worried about having a volume that is super loud. The speakers on an iPad are not that great, and it would not be practical to try attaching speakers to it. A Bluetooth will allow you to set up some wireless speakers to work with it.

If you are struggling with the battery life of your iPad, don't fret. First, you should be sure to close any programs that you aren't using. Also, keep your brightness at a low but comfortable level whenever possible. Finally, be sure to turn off any music programs when you aren't using them.

Did you know that you can even check your local traffic on your iPad? Just go to Maps, click on the turning page in the corner, and turn the traffic overlay on. As long as you have an Internet connection, you will be able to see the current traffic in your area.

If you are new to using an iPad you may initially think it cannot do much. Don't be fooled, you simply need to start looking through apps. The real capabilities of an iPad come from the additional applications that you are able to download and use directly from your device.

Wait until your battery is low before you begin to charge your iPad. Batteries have something referred to as memory. If you charge the battery too early, it's memory will then record a smaller life, and this can occur repeatedly, leading to the device needing to be on the charger to be used.

Dim or brighten the screen within the iBooks app itself. Rather than entering the Settings menu while you are reading, select the sun-shaped icon in the upper right of the screen. Use the slider to adjust the brightness of the screen. This shortcut allows you to tweak the brightness without navigating away from your book.

If you have young children who will be using your iPad, you might want to restrict their access to mature content. Even by accident, it is easy for a child to acccess an inappropriate website unless you do this. Simply go to your settings, and then click on general. There you will find "enable restrictions". Tap on this and you will find a list of restrictions that you can select from.

Download the find my iPad app as soon as you begin using your iPad. This feature makes it possible for you to locate your iPad in case that you lose it using GPS locating services. Be sure to leave your locating settings on so that this feature can be used in case you misplace it.

When you're taking a picture with your iPad, you can tap on a subject within the picture to focus better and adjust the light settings. This will individually focus on certain subjects of the picture, making for better quality. It is a very useful feature, and it's very simple.

Do you enjoy playing with the Photo Booth feature? You can take pictures of others by taping on the twirly camera icon located at the bottom of your screen, and the camera located on the back of your iPad will become active. Use the shutter button to take your pictures.

Don't be fooled into thinking that iPads are only useful if you are into gaming or entertainment. There is really an application for anything you can possibly imagine. This includes home organization apps like personal budgets as well as recipe books, calculators, and anything else you can possibly imagine.

If you are one of those people that likes sharing a lot of the information you find enjoyable with your friends, there is a very easy way to share podcasts. All you have to do is press the Email button while the podcast is open and email it to whoever you like.

You can scroll back to the top of a long page in your browser without repeatedly dragging your finger across the screen. There is a much more efficient method. All you have to do is tap a finger on the title bar one time. You will zoom right back to the top of the page.

Put a screen protector on your iPad. It does not interfere with the visibility of the display. The screen protector protects your iPad from oils and dirt from your fingers. It is great way to prevent your screen from permanent scratches. If the protector is scratched, it can be easily replace.
