Why Is There A Need To Harvest Timber

By Christine Carter

What is timber? It is used that has been harvested from trees to be used in building houses, and other structure. If you are an environmentalist, you are probably against the idea of trees being harvested, being that it will limit the living habitats of an entire local wildlife. However, there are some countries and states, like timber harvesting PA, that does timber harvesting for the reason of expanding the population the entire local wildlife. So aside from the government and property owner profiting from it, it also benefits the wildlife in the area.

But if one really thinks about it, what would one do without the materials, which are necessities in building. Would it be a simple thing to do, to just stop harvesting timber, what about the needs to the human economy, the needs of every couple who are starting out to build a home. Can building a home be possible without a house.

All are aware of what can happen if the natural environment is abused to a certain extent. It could cause catastrophic natural disaster. It is true that if a large number of trees disappear in the forest and not immediately restored then it will be the cause of great global warming in the future.

Another benefit would be timber management provides tax benefits to local government. And with tax the government could devise better projects for the development of the state and people living in the community.

But that is not entirely up to the people, but of the property owners who are also benefiting from timber harvesting. According to study that has been done regarding Timber harvesting, most property owner actually prefer to keep the forest alive and the trees going.

Of course it would not, one cannot say that one habitual preference fits all kinds of animals, it might be suitable for some animals but not for all. Therefore cutting down some older trees would provide a greater chance for young sapling and trees to grow and provide shelter to all sort of wildlife.

There is simply so much profit, in preserving the forest and the trees, rather than disposing them all. And that is more than enough to prove that they would not be too hasty to cut down the life that provides homes to the hundreds or thousands of wild life depending on the forest.

First of animals have different habitat and preference where they think would fit them well. Like all human beings we do not stay in a place that does not meet our own preference and lifestyle. Imagine a forest that has the same trees that have the same age, length and width. This kind of environment might be beneficial to some animals, but not to all.

In fact when animal cannot cope with their environment they die and end up becoming endangered and or worst extinct. But cutting down the old and some tall trees, little sapling and young trees can grow in the area and promote diversity for the local wildlife. When one thinks about all these positive outcome in terms of harvesting timber one might think maybe there is something good in harvesting timber just as long as the privilege to harvest these resources is not abused.
