What You Need To Know Before Choosing Custom Digital T-Shirt Printing

By Diane Carter

At one point or another, you may need to get an item customized for you. This may be for an event, or just to add to the collection in your wardrobe. In case you want to go with custom digital t-shirt printing, it is best to know a few of the facts. This makes sure you know what you are getting into.

Currently there are two methods used to print designs and patterns onto clothes. The oldest one is the silkscreen method. This one has many processes and involves the use of heat, to transfer the ink onto the clothes . The more modern method is digital printing. It is faster and a bit more convenient. It involves the process of directly adhering the ink onto the garment.

Sometimes you might need to design and print only one garment. This can easily be done using the digital method, as it is fast and does not have a minimum number. Using the screen method will require you to set a minimum number, in order not to feel like you are making losses. It is therefore good for people who want only one or two garments colored.

The colors of the clothes will also influence the method. For whites and light colored clothes, you can use the modern methods. The colors will pop and the design will lie flat on item. When its dark colors, a base will need to be applied and might alter the appearance of the colors. It is therefore, better to use the silk screen method on them.

The colors you want to appear on the garment are also a determining factor. When using the more modern method, you might notice that almost all the colors are available. However, blues and violets will need to be applied with a base, which tends to interfere with how they will appear. The metallic look, which can be achieved by the silk screen method, is not available for the other method.

If you need your clothes done quickly, then the modern method will be more appropriate. It is faster as it has fewer and simpler processes. It also requires less input on the side of the person doing the designing. This method is also appropriate, if the design chosen requires many small details.

The material of what you need printed is another determinant. If it is fabric, then either method can be used. It is however, recommended to use a hundred percent cotton, when doing it digitally. It you need ceramic or glass printed, and then the silkscreen method is better. This method can be used on almost anything from clothes, to mugs, to your plates.

The next time you need a photo or design transferred to your clothes, keep the above factors in mind. This way you will understand why your design appeared the way it did, the pricing, and how much time it took. In case you want to start this kind of business, also these same factors will determine which method you will choose to be using.
