Environmental Benefits Of Recycled Pallets California

By Deanne Shepard

Recycling has become extremely popular over the past decade or so. Not only because it saves money but also because it is environmentally friendly. Many people are now very concerned about reducing their carbon footprint and giving materials a second life. By reusing simple materials there is less pollution going into the atmosphere and the need for new raw materials is reduced.

Much of the damage has been done by people burning too much fossil fuels and changing the composition of the atmosphere. In addition there has been massive deforestation that has also affected the climate. Every small step that can be taken to help slow this alarming trend is of great benefit. One of those steps is the idea of recycled pallets California.

Businesses throughout the state are working together to reduce their carbon foot print and slow down the damage to our beautiful planet. Each pallet that can be saved and reused is a step in the right direction. The lumber that can be saved is very important as every tree helps to reduce the amounts of carbon dioxide in our air. All over the world small groups and governments are taking this issue very seriously. They are part of a huge movement to plant more trees as a simple but highly important effort to help restore the delicate balance of nature.

It is surprisingly simple to fix a damaged pallet. A typically claw hammer can be used to prize out the nails and remove the damaged or broken section. Pre cut lengths of lumber can then be used to fashion a fast and effective repair. Most work can be done in just a few minuets and the pallet will be as good as new. Drivers are also made aware of the benefits of treating each pallet with a little extra care to prolong its working life.

It also takes a lot of power to get raw materials into a usable form. The trees have to be felled and dragged out of the woods. They are then trucked to a processing center which all involves a lot of fuel, electricity and pollution. The finished lumber is then trucked to other outlets where it is made into items, including pallets. By reusing as much as possible the new for precious raw materials is reduced.

Once a pallet has been retired it can often be put to good use around the farm. Many people now build simple storage sheds or even livestock enclosures from pallets. These structures actually look good, are sturdy and have excellent ventilation. The builders have the satisfaction of knowing that they are using an existing material and not causing unnecessary pollution to the environment.

Other people take the pallet apart and use the lumber to build something new and different. The lengths of wood are perfect for making fences or even gates. This is a nice, low cost alternative to traditional more expensive types of fence.

People do not need to have more than basic carpentry skills to fashion a reasonable repair. A pallet is a simple yet effective design that has not changed in years. A piece or two can be replaced and the original pallet still has many years of wear left in it.
