Bracing For The Storm

By Maryl Joop

Anyone will tell you that trouble lies in the paths of those that refuse to get their oil changed on a regular basis. Even your Orlando insurance specialist will say it's a good idea, considering that expensive consequences lie at the door of those that refuse to heed the warning of regular oil maintenance.

But those homeowners who are fully prepared for the upcoming hurricane season have less to fear than those who are not. Becoming adequately prepared for the hurricane season can entail a multitude of things, such as preparing and compiling an emergency supply kit in the home, implementing and emergency action plan and teaching it to every member of the family, and preparing the home itself for the beating that a hurricane can dish out.

This principle applies across cultural gestures as well. In many countries, it is common to point with your lips. When asked where the church is, a native would look in the direction of the church and purse their lips out. To them, that means the same thing as someone pointing their finger in America.

Every type of metal will do this when temperatures rise. That consequence is unavoidable. That is, unless you add a lubricant to separate the metal pieces, despite the heat. That substance needs to (1) be able to handle the heat of those two moving pieces of metal without burning, and (2) be able to slip through every crack and crevice of the moving parts to completely cover every moving surface.

Certain symbols or gestures have powerful methods of sending messages to people. There are many of these symbols and messages that universally speak stay away from a house to thieves and criminals.

For this reason, securing the garage door should be the first priority of any homeowner in Orlando. A homeowner can secure their garage door by purchasing and installing garage door reinforces that can be found at most home improvement stores.

With the garage door reinforced, the homeowner preparing against the coming hurricane season should turn to the doors and windows of the home. Similarly to the garage door, if the door and windows of a home give out during a hurricane, it is much more likely that internal damages will be done to the items within the home.

Always have your exterior lights come on at dusk. Put your interior lights on a timer as well. They will deter criminals from approaching and indicate that someone is home. Use lighting as a symbol of occupancy and exposure to send them scampering somewhere else.

The other reason is that even despite the oil, chips and shavings come off from the friction of metal on metal in the engine.

Finally, a homeowner in Orlando should tend to the security of their roof to prevent it from failing during a hurricane. Additional braces and supports may be needed and should be installed where need to prevent the roof from failing to protect the home during a storm.

The less oil reaching your engine, the more chances you have of permanently injuring your engine. And these things aren't cheap to replace (usually about $2-3,000 minimum for parts and labor) So listen to your friends, family members, mechanics, and yes, even your Orlando insurance specialist. Stop fighting it and change your oil regularly and keep up the integrity of your engine.
