How Indoor Track And Field Events West NY Differ From Outdoor

By Dennis Cole

Although the more well known form of the sport track and field is the one done in big fields outdoors, the indoor track and field events West NY are also really popular and getting more popularity. Now, while they are pretty much the same, there are a number of differences that one will be able to note if he would look at the two variants. Here are six differences that one will be able to note.

One of the main differences of the two variants is that the competitions held indoors have very limited disciplines compared to the competitions in outdoor fields. Usually, a competition that is held in an outdoor field would have over twenty disciplines included. Compared to the one held indoors, indoor competitions would have only around fifteen or slightly above that.

Another very huge difference is that the tracks where the players compete in are much shorter indoors. Of course, the reason for this would be the logistics regarding the space. In fact, the tracks found indoors may actually be half of the tracks that are found outdoors which means that players will have to adjust their turns so that they can adapt to the size.

Since this is the case, the angles of the tracks are widened so that the players will not have a very hard time turning. Since the players will be running at full speed, making the turns too sharp might be a bit dangerous for them. So instead of making the turns sharper, the tracks are just shrunk to make things a little bit more consistent.

Since the tracks are made smaller, then the distance of these tracks will also in turn, become much shorter than they already were. For example, an ordinary 100 meter track will then become 60 meters. Another example would be 5000 distance tracks will become 3000 tracks when it goes indoors.

Yet again, another big difference there is that there are almost no throwing disciplines in the variant indoors. Of course, the reason behind that would be the space that throwing sports would require. This means that one will not be able to find any hammer throws, disc throws, and even javelin throws if he participates in contests that are held indoors.

The only throwing event that competitions held indoors have is the shotput event. This is because hosts would most likely look at the safety precautions surrounding the event. First of all, shotputs cannot be thrown too far so it is okay for a small space. Also, the landing area has nets surrounding it so that the other people inside the vicinity will not get hit.

If one wants to join one of these variants but does not know the difference between them, then take a look here. Above mentioned are the main differences that one will be able to find between the two. So the one that one will choose will all depend on his own preference with regard to the sport.
