Every site usually has people representing the employer and the employee. These people are expected to oversee certain duties and perform certain tasks to ensure smooth running of operations in that particular place. Time is of essential essence. The work has to get completed within the stipulated time limit. This will help save on costs and will also ensure that the client is happy and satisfied. It their responsibility to see to it that the project does not go beyond the scheduled time. After studying the terms of the contract and understanding them, they will allocated certain periods of time to all the activities that must be done. This time must be slightly less than the one in the contract so that they are completed within the time stipulated.

They are also responsible for dispatching manual workers to the site being built. They know the amount of labor required and will therefore properly divide work portions and assign a certain number of people to them. It is there duty to know the appropriate number of persons per piece of work that will ensure efficiency. If the labor demand is high, they will assign more people just to confirm that the work is completed as scheduled.

There are regulations that must be adhered to during construction. Different bodies in authority will from time to time visit the sites to ensure that they do not stray from the rules. Site managers are expected to see to it that these regulations are not violated. They will review the project and monitor its compliance to these building regulations. They also take part in obtaining relevant licenses and permits.

They are the supervisors on site. The personnel are supposed to instruct workers on what to do. They assign tasks and follow up to confirm that they are done properly. All the other workers are under their authority. If something is done incorrectly, they have the power to have the work redone. It is their responsibility to ensure that everything is in the right state.

While on site, they have to manage finances. They will record the amount of money spent on each activity and give this report back to the relevant personnel. The progress of work has to be monitored. Each task has to get carried out within the proposed time and budget. In case the need for any additions arises, they are expected to negotiate for this in due time.

They usually act as a link between the manual workers and the administrative staff, clients and developers. They will study, interpret and explain contract terms and plans to the workers so that they know exactly what is expected of them. The firm will also express the views and interest of these workers to the bosses. They are the ones to ensure the well being of these people. Good coordination has to exist so that tasks are done effectively.

In conclusion, every project is supposed to have site managers. They are a very important group that perform vital tasks some of which have been discussed above. Employers must be very vigilant when hiring them so as to choose the best that will work under minimal supervision. The success of the project is dependent on their input.
