Do Women Sell Cars At A Better Rate?

As long as most of us can remember, car salesmen have a reputation for being slick and dishonest. Such movies as Used Cars, and The Goods: Live Hard, Sell Hard, give the impression that the only way to sell a car is to use trickery or some form of deceptiveness. Many car dealers have gone a long way to prove the perception wrong. For a long time, car salesmen have been earning their bread by how many cars they sale. No commissions, no sales. No sales, no food, electricity, and rent. Thus the pressure was on.

The old adage let the buyer beware has been the watchword for many years. The thing behind this was that you had to be on the lookout when buying a car for your own interests.

While it's true that most car salesman are not that way, enough are to make most people looking for a car to be wary. Sales people come in all types of manner, there are the smooth talkers and others just give you the facts. There are others that don't tell if not asked. Also, there are women car salesmen alongside men. How do female car salesman survive in this environment.

The fact remains that women prefer not dealing with car salesmen while searching for a car. However, they are less apprehensive when the salesman turns to be a woman. A woman would understand what the another woman's desires.

In addition, most women have a softer approach. This thus draws people who would have rather ran away making them better salesmen. Women are good listeners as they also pay attention. Many women would rather talk to another woman.

Another thing that discourages women is when you ask of the whereabouts of their spouses. Women salesmen do not do that. This does not happen with women salesmen. They assume that you know what you're doing when you come to their car lot by a car. In addition, most women salesman has been through that, know what it's like, and do not want to treat other women the same.

Women understand each other better hence tend to trust each other. Empathy is one thing that is very significant when it comes to sales. Sales is really about emotion. Women know how to use emotion much better than men.

Most men will deal with a woman salesman. The thought process is that she can't know more than them, therefore they feel less threatened by a woman. That's an advantage to the woman salesman, especially an honest one, who just wants to do a good job and earn a day's pay.
