Why Consult Technicians To Install Emergency Exit Signs With Lights

By Dominique Martin

Employers and building owners are required to enhance the safety of people occupying buildings whether customers, workers, or other persons. The premises owners should make sure they put in place effective disaster management plans and safety measures to prevent calamities when tragedies strike. Fires can arise in buildings and the workers need to evacuate as fast as possible. Installing emergency exit signs with lights is one way of enhancing the safety of people in a building during the times of disaster.

In workplaces, employees need to be able to escape and evacuate the premises when accidents such as fires arise. In times of disasters, there is a lot of confusion, and this is one thing that contributes to many fatalities and injuries in times of emergencies. There is a lot of panic, which makes people fail to act appropriately.

Although there can be exit signs showing people where to go when disasters occur, they may not be effective when troubles occur. For example, some may only function if they are illuminated on by other light sources. If a building is too dark, those sign tools may not be easily visible.

The workers need to be educated on the way to respond when emergencies strike. They need to know where the firefighting equipments are located and how to use them. In addition, the designated assembly points where workers concrete for headcounts should clearly be marked and known to each employee.

If the backup generators are turned off to prevent more fires from breaking up, during that time, the building is very dark and people many not be able to see the routes exiting the property. If a sign does not have light, then the people cannot see it and they will remain trapped inside.

But this is unlikely to happen in times of tragedies. When the lights go off, and the signs do not have illumination, they are as good as useless. They do not serve any purpose and this could lead to another disaster. Many people are likely to be trapped inside a building. The firefighting team may also find it very rocky to evacuate people from the building.

The firefighting team also needs to find the routes to the buildings so that they can help people get out. In the large and multi-storey properties, there is a general rule that when disasters strike, people should be able to quickly turn their back on the fires and move away speedily to safe places. This is a process, which requires that people are educated on how they should respond to incidents of fires.

Even when the firefighting and rescue team arrives, it also needs to know the directions to help people get out of the building. This requires that the sign marks function properly and are clearly visible. As an employer or building owner, should make sure the signage tools for emergencies are periodically checked to ensure they are working properly. In addition, use only reliable signs that will not go off when the lights shut down. All the escape routes should also be clear and not obstructed.
