Useful And Essential Facts About Stainless Steel Screw Conveyor

By Virginia Gibson

Today, there are many different makes and models of conveyors. Nevertheless, the screw conveyor seems to be the commonly preferred for usage in mechanical bulk solids. This model has a simple design which contributes to making it efficient and reliable. To add on this, it has the least number of moving parts that require maintenance and replacement. As such, there is no need for frequent replacement of parts or maintenance. This is what Stainless Steel Screw Conveyor is all about.

Another advantage that these devices come with that makes them very preferable is their compact size. The compact size is important for allowing the device to take up very little floor space when it is installed. Many businesses find the compact design to be very useful because of the savings achieved in floor space. In fact, there are businesses that adopt these devices simply because of their small size.

These devices can be installed vertically or horizontally. There are also some designs which can be installed at an inclined angled. Most modern designs are made with the ability that makes configuration possible so that they handle a variety of applications and materials. Also, they can be used in a wider range of work conditions.

A typical conveyor is made up of a screw that is mounted in an enclosed U-shaped trough or tube. The screws usually have one or multiple sections and has bearings to support it at either end. In some cases, the screw can be very long so that it requires additional supports. These supports come in the form of hanger bearings that are usually installed between sections of the screw from the top.

One of the either ends of the screw normally has a motor or gear reducer. When the system is in use, material is normally applied at one end of screws in order to fill spaces between screw flights. As soon as the system is switched on, the motor begins to power the screws as the flight in turn pushes the materials along the tube. Finally, the material gets discharged via an opening on the other end.

The way in which the conveyor is built is so versatile, which makes it suitable to be used in most high-temperature applications. For example, it can be used in applications like removal of ash from boilers as well as feeding kilns with lime. All these applications involve the use of high temperatures and the materials moved in these applications are as well hot.

The conveying system itself is presented by lots of challenges due to handling of very hot materials. For example, the system can fail prematurely due to constant handling of very hot materials. Thermal expansion of mechanical components is usually the cause of failure of the system. The other major concern is the safety of workers. It is crucial to cooperate with the supplier if one intends to see the product they have acquired last longer and remain functional.

There are very many specialized suppliers who produce and sell high-quality products. Products from various suppliers are different and unique in very many ways. Some models are built for use in specific work environments such as cold and hot environments.
