TSA Horror Stories That Passengers Cannot Forget

By Edward Bailey

The transport security administration has received a lot of negative feedback from travelers everywhere because of their invasive standard operating security procedures. These security procedures make people feel violated and often times sexually harassed because of all the inappropriate touching and groping. Here are a few tsa horror stories to illustrate all of that.

From those who come from different cultures or religious backgrounds, it is definitely possible to experience some sort of discrimination with these procedures. One man, Gurdeep Singh Bawa had to remove his turban when he went under the scanner even if he passed the metal scanning. In his culture, it is rude to allow others to touch the turban, as per his religion.

Another story was about a woman who was sexually harassed while going through one of these security checks. According to her account, the agents forced her to strip her blouse which exposed her breasts to everyone who was there. She then made a complaint to the supervisor in charge but was ignored. After that, she decided to file a lawsuit against the agency and also kept her name anonymous from the papers and news.

One Redditor who had sleep apnea complained that a security agent even tampered with her sleep apnea machine because they thought it was some kind of strange device. Eventually, they disassembled it, prompting the Redditor to get the name of the supervisor in charge to file a case in the event she died because they broke the sleep apnea machine. Needless to say, they had the machine replaced afterwards.

Cathy Bassi, who is a proud breast cancer survivor and a carrier of a prosthetic breast, was stopped by agents because they suspected the breast to be something dangerous. The agents first groped her beast and asked her if she felt anything. After that, they asked her to show the prosthetic breast.

Children were also heavily victimized by the agents as a six year old boy was sexually harassed. His father wrote an anonymous blog stating that his son was not given a choice but to go through the enhanced pat down. During the pat down, the agents grabbed his testicles, which obviously made him feel uncomfortable.

John Tyner was a little bit different as he did not want to cooperate. He was interviewed by fox news wherein he stated that he refused screening and pat downs. Because of this, the agents told him he was not allowed to travel and was brought out of the airport.

Everyone who has gone traveling in certain parts of the world has probably experienced some sort of unjust security procedure due to the transport security agents. While some agents really just follow the rules of their job, there is no denying that there are some who abuse their power just to harass passengers. This can really be seen in the stories that were mentioned above.
