Why Kids Should Enroll In Chess Schools NYC

By Christopher Taylor

Teaching chess to children is something which all parents must give serious thought to but alas, it is not as simple as it seems. In fact, many parents themselves feel so intimidated by this game that they prefer to enroll their children in Chess Schools NYC wherein grasping the nuances of the game occurs under the tutelage of a professional.

In one logic, these situations are somehow distinct from the others of the same genre that they are specially purposed to be solved a person like yourself. Some of the pieces and pawns of either side are put in set positions on the board.

Learning about taking turns, making decisions, how to be patient, and understanding and applying various rules is the norm with board games. Trying to solve a Rubik's cube or fit together a jigsaw puzzle involves them having to apply skills in problem-solving and helps improve memory skills.

Life is all about being fair and learning how to share with your friends, these are important for kids to learn and understand and can be taught from playing games, just ask any primary schoolteacher how important play is and you're sure to get a lecture on its importance in a child's life.

The next step involves buying a chess board which may vary from being a cheap board costing a few dollars to a sophisticated electronic version which might be high-priced. For beginners, it is the former that would be ideal as it would facilitate ease of repetition while teaching basics like layout, modus operandi of how the pieces move and rules governing the game. Once a child is fully trained in these aspects and still approaches the game with enthusiasm, he can be shifted to an electronic chess board wherein he can play at different levels.

Remember that the mandate is "to win" the checkmate must come within a maximum of 30 moves. The same is true for the "draw" mandate. If you take up the problems one by one and patiently try to solve it as per the mandate and succeed, it will sharpen your intellect and vastly improve the quality of your checkers play.

Based on the research studies and survey from above it can be concluded that playing checkers in kids can; i) improve thinking development, ii) enhance self-esteem and self-image, iii) improve reading performance, iv) improve math problem solving, v) boost logical and analytical thinking, and vi) accelerate IQ.

Children do not learn checkers in a day - given the complicated nature of the game, it often takes several days, weeks and months for the results to manifest. You must employ several approaches ranging from Shout Checkers to more complex methodologies, but hold on to your patience too. So temper your classes with plenty of variety and take pride as you watch a relatively young checkers player grow into a confident professional.
