By Carolyn Anderson

One type of machine that will make one or more copies of a document or any other visual image cheaply and quickly is called a photocopier. Nowadays, these machines are being used with xerography technology which is a dry type of process which uses an electrostatic charge to attract and transfer the toner particles to a paper. Heat and pressure will then fuse the toner to the paper.

These machines are used widely in education, government sectors, and businesses in Denver, Colorado. Despite of its uses, these also have some disadvantages, commonly the health issues. This is because of the exposure into ultraviolet light due to the use of tungsten halogen, xenon flash, or fluorescent that exposes the documents to ultraviolet. The machines also need to be maintained. So the purpose of this article is to give you tips to do copier machine maintenance Denver.

Most of the people, especially the users, have not obtained any knowledge when maintaining the machines. Maintenance is necessary to almost all things so that time will not be wasted whenever some problems occur over time that would really need some troubleshooting. Even if there are experts who can do this job, it is still better to have even just a basic knowledge about its maintenance. So it is best to invest a part of your time in maintaining it. The following are 6 simple steps in doing it.

First is cleaning the machine. Make sure that before starting to clean, all wires must be unplugged from the socket. Second is using the right materials to use in cleaning. Make sure that these materials are being specified by manufacturers. Anti scanner liquids must be used in cleaning the glass scanners.

Third is to wipe the surface of scanner by the use of cloth. Then dampen the surfaces after using the cleaner liquid. Wipe the surface again after dampening. It is recommended that the glass surface must be cleaned regularly for avoiding the small dust particles in affecting the quality of a copy.

Fourth, replacing the toners regularly. Most copiers have own indicators in which it would tell that toners need to replaced as soon as possible. In replacing it, open first the cover of process unit, remove toner container and replace it. Make sure to shake the toner container before you install it. Also, make sure to close properly the cover.

Fifth is cleaning toner areas with a toner vacuum. This will maintain the printing quality and as well as not to hinder the flow of ink. Fusers should also be regularly cleaned. To do this, apply a silicon oil into a soft cloth and wipe it to the fuser and dry it with another piece of cloth.

Sixth is cleaning the drum. This is where both toner and paper are attached. Use a myler bar, this is a plastic or a rubber blade. This helps remove excess toners that are stuck to the drum.

So those are the 6 simple steps to maintain a photocopier. Of course, you will still need to follow the steps that are provided in your instructional manual of machines. But if you are experiencing some troubles and during the regular maintenance, contacting the maintenance service company is suggested so they can help you.
