In some cases, your items can be shipped by road and sea and this is the preferred option for many people. Before calling a company to arrange the shipping of your goods, you will need to choose what to take with you. When you have decided and made a list, you can measure up and weigh the goods. You will then need to get in touch with an established freight forwarding team and make the arrangements to get the goods shipped.

When you first contact a shipping company, they will make some notes and ask you what things you want to ship and where they are going. It is highly recommended that you get some written estimates from various companies so that you can compare their prices. When you have decided on a firm they will send you enough boxes and crates and arrange a date when they can collect.

When packaging your goods, you will need to do so very carefully and make certain that everything is well protected. When boxing items, you should check individual pieces off a check list as you package them. Each crate needs to be labeled with the address and the contents for when it arrives at the other end.

It is essential to ensure that someone is at the property to accept the delivery and check everything when it arrives.

The costs of air freighting your possessions will depend on a few things. The number of packages, the total weight and the destination will all influence what you pay. If your items will be spending some time in a storage facility, the costs will increase due to warehousing fees being added to your bill.

It is very important that when having goods shipped by a company that you get some insurance cover in place. Most of the companies that handle freight will have standard cover and this will usually be enough for the majority of items. If you have rare or valuable items, it is worth getting some independent cover.
