Internet Marketing Firms & Assessing Instagram's User Numbers

By Robert Sutter

Instagram is a name that anyone who's involved in social media knows about. It's an app that's meant for sharing out photos, commenting on and liking them in the process. Of course, there are several users that this app has to take into account and I am sure that anyone will be able to attest to this. What's become a major talking point, as of late, is Instagram's broad audience. Internet marketing firms, across the board, cannot overlook such a point either.

Instagram recently announced that it had reached more than 300 million subscribers worldwide. This isn't a small feat, either, especially when given the fact that this exceeds the number of subscribers that exists on Twitter. In fact, this comparison has been made across a number of publications, if you perform a search on Google. It's not hard to see why, given the fact that Twitter is perhaps the number two social media channel behind Facebook.

In March, a total of 200 million subscribers were observed on the part of Instagram. Of course, it's important to note that Facebook did not purchase the photo-sharing service until the following April. Suffice it to say, improvements were seen in user numbers - firms the likes of fishbat can attest to this - but it's clear that said improvements should also entail functionality related to the app. This is yet another broad talking point for Internet marketing firms to engage in.

Authenticity was spoken about, as Instagram will start to verify the accounts proposed for celebrities. This isn't unlike the systems that Facebook and Twitter alike have integrated; these help to keep communication between well-known figures and their fans as seamless as possible. Hopefully verified badges help to clear any confusion users may have. They may also work to keep Instagram users engaged in this app throughout the long term.

Facebook has become one of the strongest platforms out there, and its influence on Instagram cannot be disputed. Instagram's broader audience is a strong point to associate with the photo-sharing app, so who knows what will happen in the next few years? I believe that only improved results will surface. Given the fact that most people would rather spend time looking at photos than reading walls of text, Instagram only has the potential to move up.
